NIXON 12 FRET OOO OLD-GROWTH MADAGASCAR
One of a Kind
Exceptional custom handcrafted Nixon OM/OOO 12-fret guitar.
Here is what the builder had to say about this guitar:
"This is a very close copy of a 1930’s Martin 000, built from plans drawn by Martin expert Don McRostie. The only real differences are that it has an adjustable truss rod, and uses individual tuners rather than 3 on a plate. The peg head slots are also slightly wider (ever try changing strings on a vintage Martin slot head?)
Body is Madagascar rosewood. [This exquisite tone wood has been in Luthier Jon Nixon’s stash for over 30 years]. The Madagascar in this guitar is prime quality the likes of which you just don't see much anymore. looks very much like old Brazilian. This would be a minimum of a 2000-2500$ upcharge by Collings, Bourgeois or a similar builder.
Top is OLD GROWTH Adirondack spruce, acquired directly for luthier Ted Williams before his untimely passing.
This has BAR FRETS, an authentic feature that even the Martin Custom shop can’t provide.

One has to play this to appreciate what it is capable of. Sweet, articulate, with a wide dynamic range. A finger pickers delight, but can keep up with many dreads if flatpicked
The bar frets provide a unique tactile connection with the instruments vibrations. This is a unique, one of a kind instrument."
I don't believe I can add much to this as the builder's description and details are complete and succinct. With a hard shell case.
