Ibanez GB-20 George Benson 1979 - Natural Blonde
Very cool and fairly hard to come by 1979 Ibanez George Benson GB-20 (Google GB-20 specs for general info).
This came to me with a useless, disintegrated pickguard (as they did) which (also as they did), had the input jack attached to the back of the guard.
I installed a new bound guard made from Gibson Super 400 material, put the input jack in the side corner like an L-5 at about 4 o'clock, and added Schatten thumbwheels which include a volume wheel and an added tone control which the factory set up did not have (only had a volume knob).
As a result of my changes, this is a lot more user friendly than the original in my opinion. I realize some folks out there will be critical of my choices. That's fine and good and OK; I just ask you respect that this is my guitar. The original guard and harness such as they are will be included.
Very limited binding degradation and some metal tarnish from the guard off-gassing, this is in great player's condition, however, it's not a museum piece as it has multiple long finish checks as shown with one on the treble side which is not shown as yet. These craze lines were a very typical issue many of the old Ibanez guitars had in common. They are cosmetic only. Mild to moderate fret wear.
All that said, it still looks great and it is a sweet playing and sounding axe from Ibanez's Golden Age.
Scale L is 25".
